Public Library Children's Area

The Victoria Public Library has a thriving children’s program that incorporates play time for babies, story time for toddlers, and computer classes for youth. To foster the growth and education of their young patrons, the library wanted a learning environment that was clearly identifiable as “just for kids.” Working with a rigid budget, RMA transformed the once typical library space into a fun, colorful environment with child-sized seating, book bins that have been shown to increase borrowing rates, and oversized colorful graphics. The custom, brightly colored, arched entry incorporates bookshelves that are as fun to climb into as they are functional. Other features include cushioned seats, and a reading nook where kids can share a book with a parent or sibling.
